Tennis Highlights
Australian born and trained, Peter Doohan
won one singles title and five doubles titles. A great doubles
player, he won the NCAA doubles title and was the first tennis
player in Arkansas history to win four-times in a row. He reached
his highest singles ATP world ranking of 43 in 1987, when he
beat the defending champion Boris Becker at Wimbledon. Peter
achieved a doubles career high with the Stanford ATP ranking
of 15 in 1987. |

John Newcombe Testimonial <<Back
to Testimonials
To whom it may concern,
I write in support of Peter Doohan as the Director of Tennis at the
National Park complex in Newcastle.
Peter was a prominent ATP player Internationally from 1984-91 reaching
a career world high ranking of 43, and was a member of our Davis Cup
team 1986-87.
Newcastle should be a hot bed of Australian tennis, but is not. Peter
has spent the last 15 years at the top of Club tennis in the U.S.
and it is my opinion he will be of great benefit for Newcastle and
Australian tennis.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
John Newcombe
